In the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, the U.S. Congress established a new requirement that all school districts with a federally-funded school meals program develop and implement wellness policies that address nutrition and physical activity by the start of the 2006-2007 school year.
The Eldred Central School District has a School Wellness Committee with representatives from the cafeteria, physical education, students, health education, nursing, administration, the school community and Board of Education. The Wellness Committee monitors, reviews, and, as necessary, recommends revision of school nutrition and physical activity policies. The Wellness Committee also serves as a resource to school sites for implementing these policies.
Meetings are scheduled bi-monthly in the Junior-Senior High School and all meetings appear on the district calendar. The School Wellness Committee membership consists of members of the administration, faculty, staff and community.
We are always looking for input from the community at large so if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please contact Robert M. Dufour, Superintendent at 845-456-1100 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
