New York State school buses are the safest vehicles
made in the field of pupil transportation in the world. We are committed to maintaining this standard of safety to protect our most precious cargo. Seat belt use will be strongly encouraged on all school buses equipped with them. Students will be reminded to buckle up.
on the school bus will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Handbook. When necessary, student disciplinary referrals will be initiated and appropriate action will be taken. Proper student behavior directly impacts the safe operation of a school bus, and your continued support and cooperation is very much appreciated.
One safety concern is in regard to students wearing
loosely fitted clothing, including drawstrings and belts. These items can get caught in or wrapped around the grab handle in the stop well of the school bus and/or the door, resulting in student injury. Eldred Central School District bus drivers will be made aware of this and further instructed to pay close attention and be on the lookout for this potential problem.
Due to full bus capacity, we must inform you that we will be unable to transport Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Birthday Parties, etc. Students must take their own bus home unless going to a baby sitter.
The times that are given for the bus routes are approximate. The BOCES bus leaves Eldred Central School at 7:20 a.m. for BOCES. Students being transported to BOCES will be
notified by mail of their individual pickup times. The HOMESTEAD bus leaves from Mackenzie at 8:20 a.m. for HOMESTEAD.
The Transportation Department would like correct house numbers put on mailboxes to assist in bus stop locations. We ask that the old numbers be taken off the box and your new number put in its place. Thank you.
When Eldred Central School District is closed, transportation is provided to: BOCES, Alternative Education and Special Education Schools, New Life Christian School and Orange Ulster BOCES. The exception to this is when there is inclement weather when no district buses are transporting.
